Terms & Acceptable Use

Use the tool on content you own or are authorized to process. Everything else follows from that.

Permitted use

The service is provided free of charge for cleaning invisible characters and provenance metadata from content you own, content you have created, or content you have explicit authorization to process. Typical uses include preparing your own drafts for publication, normalizing text corpora, removing stray control characters from code, and stripping generator metadata from your own images before delivery.

Uses that are not permitted

  • Removing provenance markers in order to misrepresent the authorship or origin of content.
  • Circumventing an academic integrity policy, an employer policy, or a contractual or statutory AI-disclosure requirement.
  • Processing content you do not own and are not authorized to modify, including third-party copyrighted material.
  • Automated abuse of the service, including attempts to overwhelm it or to use it as infrastructure for another product without agreement.

No warranty

The service is provided “as is,” without warranty of any kind. In particular, and to be explicit about the things people most often assume:

  • We do not warrant that any AI detection service will classify cleaned content as human-written. Detection is style-based and unaffected by this tool.
  • We do not warrant that every provenance marker in every file format is found and removed. The report tells you what was and was not handled.
  • We do not warrant uninterrupted availability. Keep your own copy of anything important before processing it.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the service, including loss of data, loss of business, or consequences of publishing cleaned content.

Your responsibility

You are responsible for determining whether your use of the tool is lawful and appropriate in your jurisdiction and context. See also our privacy policy.
