Gemini Watermark Remover
Text copied from Google Gemini can carry invisible characters you never typed. This free remover finds and strips them, with a report showing exactly what came out.
Can you remove a Gemini watermark?
Invisible Unicode characters in Gemini text can be removed, and provenance metadata on Gemini-generated files can be stripped. SynthID-style signals embedded in the pixels or audio of a generated file are a different mechanism and are not removed by metadata stripping.
- Removable: hidden Unicode in text, plus C2PA/EXIF/XMP metadata on files.
- Not removable here: in-content SynthID signals.
- Free, instant, nothing stored.
Where the hidden characters come from
Gemini renders its output as HTML in the browser. That HTML uses non-breaking spaces to control wrapping, zero-width characters to manage line-break opportunities, and occasionally direction marks around mixed-script content. When you select and copy, the clipboard carries the rendered HTML, including all of that.
Paste into a document, a CMS, or a code editor and every one of those characters lands in your text. Whether or not Gemini is applying a statistical watermark at the model level, the practical problem is the same: your text contains bytes you did not intend.

- Clean and copy backPress Clean text, then Copy cleaned. Paste into your destination with Ctrl+Shift+V so no formatting layer is reintroduced.
Frequently asked questions
Does Gemini put a watermark in its text?
Google has published research on text watermarking for its AI models, including the SynthID system. Gemini output may carry statistical watermarks embedded in word selection, and text copied from the Gemini web interface can pick up invisible Unicode characters from the HTML rendering layer.
What does this tool remove from Gemini output?
This tool removes invisible Unicode characters that are introduced during copy-paste from the Gemini web interface: zero-width spaces, zero-width joiners, non-breaking spaces, bidirectional controls, variation selectors, and Unicode tag characters. These are paste artifacts, not the statistical watermark.
Can I verify the characters were removed?
Yes. After cleaning, run 'Scan only' on the cleaned output. A clean result reports zero suspicious characters. The inspection report shows exactly which codepoints were found and how many of each were removed.
Does this defeat AI detectors like Turnitin?
No. Statistical AI detectors analyze writing style and are unaffected by invisible characters. This tool removes hidden Unicode carriers and paste artifacts. It does not rewrite your text or claim to defeat any detector.
Will Gemini watermark my images?
Google applies SynthID watermarks to generated images, which are embedded in the pixel data. This tool does not remove pixel-level watermarks. For files, the tool strips C2PA, EXIF and XMP metadata blocks from images you own.
