Claude Watermark Remover

Claude uses a statistical watermark that no character-removal tool can touch. Here is what that means, what this tool actually cleans, and what you can do about the mark itself.

Can you remove Claude's watermark?

Partly. Invisible characters picked up when copying out of Claude can be deleted outright. Claude's actual watermark is statistical — it lives in which words were sampled, not in any character — so it can only be diluted by rewriting the wording, never scrubbed away.

  • Removable: invisible copy-paste characters, and C2PA metadata on files.
  • Not removable by cleaning: the statistical sampling mark in Claude text.
  • Rewriting at Light, Medium or Aggressive intensity changes the word distribution that carries the mark.
  • Anyone promising complete Claude watermark removal by character stripping is misleading you.

How Claude’s watermark works & how we remove it

Claude uses a statistical watermark that biases word selection during generation. The mark lives in which words were chosen, not in anything inserted between them. This is why scanning Claude output for invisible characters finds nothing — the watermark is not made of characters.

The only way to remove it

Since the watermark is embedded in word choices, the only way to remove it is to change those word choices. Our rewriting engine does exactly that:

  • Synonym replacement — swaps words for near-equivalent alternatives, changing the token distribution that carries the mark.
  • Sentence restructuring — reorders clauses and varies phrasing patterns (aggressive mode).
  • Intensity control — light (subtle), medium (noticeable paraphrasing), or aggressive (heavy rewriting). Higher intensity = more words changed = more watermark removal.

What gets preserved

  • Technical terms — API names, programming terms, proper nouns, and domain-specific vocabulary are left unchanged.
  • Meaning — synonyms are chosen to preserve the original intent.
  • Readability — the output remains natural and coherent.

Files vs text

Files (images, documents) carry signed provenance metadata — C2PA Content Credentials — which is separate from the text watermark. Upload a PNG, JPEG, SVG, PDF, DOCX, ODT, HTML or Markdown file to the Files tab to strip C2PA, EXIF and XMP metadata while the pixels or text stay byte-identical.

Three intensity levels: Light changes ~15% of words (subtle dilution), Medium changes ~35% (strong dilution), Aggressive changes ~60% (maximum removal). Start with Medium and increase if needed.

Frequently asked questions

Does Claude put a watermark in its text?

Yes. Claude uses a statistical watermark that biases word selection during generation. It lives in which words were chosen, not in invisible characters. This means no character-removal tool can touch it: you have to change the word choices themselves.

How does this tool remove Claude's watermark?

Our rewriting engine changes the word distribution that carries the mark. It swaps words for synonyms, restructures sentences, and varies phrasing. Three intensity levels let you control how aggressively to rewrite: Light (~15% words changed), Medium (~35%), or Aggressive (~60%).

What does each intensity level do?

Light (~15% words changed): subtle synonym swaps, preserves most of the original phrasing. Medium (~35%): noticeable paraphrasing while maintaining the original voice. Aggressive (~60%): heavy rewriting with sentence restructuring for maximum watermark removal. Technical terms and proper nouns are always preserved.

Will this change the meaning of my text?

No. Synonyms are chosen to preserve meaning. Technical terms, proper nouns, and domain-specific vocabulary are left unchanged. The output reads naturally. It just uses different word choices than the original.

Does Claude watermark images too?

Yes, by a completely different mechanism. Files get C2PA signed provenance metadata, a cryptographic record attached to the file. Text gets the sampling watermark. Use the Files tab to strip metadata from images and documents you own.

Can I use this for text from other AI tools?

Yes. While optimized for Claude, the rewriting engine works on any AI-generated text. It's effective for diluting statistical watermarks from any source by changing word selection patterns.
